I had so much fun writing January’s My Favorite Things post that I literally could not wait to write this one! You can catch it here if you missed it last month! I’m just going to jump right in and share my Top 10 Favorite Things for February!
- Lucky Brand Women’s Boot Socks
I. LOVE. SOCKS. I can’t help it. I live in the midwest and it’s currently 2 degrees with a real feel of -15!! Socks are an absolute necessity in the winter! I purchased these Lucky Brand socks on a whim from Costco a few weeks ago, unfortunately it looks like the secret is out because they’re sold out but you can still find them on Amazon here!
2. Dish Sponge Holder For Kitchen Sink
Sometimes it’s the little things in life, ya know? I know what you’re thinking, I already talked about socks, how could it get any more simple than that?! Well let me introduce you to my kitchen assistant, this amazingly simple yet extremely functional dish sponge holder by Umbra! It is completely flexible so you can adjust it to fit almost any sink situation, it comes in several different colors, and best of all it’s super budget friendly!
3. Calming Swing For Sensory Needs
Ok, this one is not for me, but it is for my son with sensory processing disorder. Swinging has always been something that has calmed him and I am kicking myself for taking this long to finally get an indoor calming swing for him! He absolutely loves it, he knows it helps him calm down when he’s mad and even when he’s not upset. My older son enjoys it too! With a 200 pound weight limit, sometimes they both get in it together and honestly it has been some of the sweetest moments pushing them both in the swing, hearing their giggles and even getting a quick kiss when they swing by me.
4. Aldi’s Super Cute Spring Decor!
Seriously Aldi has been on par with their decor lately! From super cute fall farmhouse style wall decor to Christmas signs to these super cute faux florals! The downside is Aldi only gets these in once and when they’re gone, they’re gone. I suggest learning if your store is a Wednesday store or Sunday store so you can check these out the day they arrive. I also follow @AldiFavoriteFinds on Instagram because she always posts the cutest things as they arrive!
5. Cozy Chunky Winter Scarves
Scarves are my favorite way to warm up (along with a cup of hot tea) and instantly make myself feel a little more put together during these cold months at home! These highly rated scarves are warm, super soft, and able to be worn a variety of ways!
6. Murder Shows And Comfy Clothes!
I find myself wanting to stay up a little later these nights and watch a true crime show or serial killer documentary after the kids are in bed. I’ve really been enjoying watching Dateline episodes lately. And my creative juices have been flowing inspiring tons of fun true crime merch designs that including phone cases for murder podcast fans, cute tote bags and actual comfy clothes to watch murder shows in!
7. Organizing
There’s something about the first couple months of the year that send me on an organizing frenzy! And while it’s been a very slow process, I have to say over the years I am (very very slowly) becoming more organized as a person and streamlining things in my life to make everything easier. My favorite place to get Org Inspo is of course from Pinterest. I am also loving these storage containers from Target (especially for the freezer!) and the cute storage bins that are available at The Dollar Tree!
Side note! I’ve been shopping online forever now and earning cash back through Rakuten! It is SO easy to sign up for an account and earn money on almost all of your online purchases! They send you a check in the mail and you deposit it into your account! Easy peasy! Also, if you sign up through my referral link, once you spend $25 online, YOU earn $25 for free and so do I! It’s a no brainer!!
8. My Morning Routine
This is still a tremendous work in progress but for the first time ever I’m working on putting together a morning routine for ME that not only helps me feel better to start my day but also helps me stay calm and focused throughout the entire day. Right now, it’s SUPER simple, and that is actually a good thing. With young kids at home, it can be almost impossible to have a consistent morning routine, but it doesn’t have to be some big elaborate plan. So for me, it looks like this –> Wake up before my kids and pee BY MYSELF –> Drink a glass of hot lemon water while my coffee is brewing –> Open the blinds, sit and breathe and look outside (will eventually sit outside when the weather is nice). That’s IT! Super stupidly simple, right? I want to eventually add some yoga and meditation to it (again, super simple versions) but for right now it’s what works for me. And those few minutes of calm honestly help me throughout the whole day. You can check out more self care tips and ideas for moms on my Self Care Pinterest board here.
9. Inspiration/Meditation Cards
Continuing right along with the self care theme, I try to look at a meditation/inspiration card every morning. It is something super simple that I’ve done for a while now. The goal is to try to reflect on the passage throughout the day and how it applies to my life. I usually forget what it says within two minutes of reading it but it is a work in progress ha! Honestly though it helps me to feel more grounded and connected to both myself and to something bigger. I love these Affirmation cards available at Amazon!
10. Target’s Good & Gather Sparkling Lime Water
I’ve been on a year long search for the best sparkling water and I think I’ve finally found it with Target’s brand of Lime Sparkling water. It’s the perfect blend of flavor and bubbly for a little pick me up throughout the day!
