Back in college I would make a weekly Top 10 List in my AOL Instant Messenger Profile (oh man did I just date myself or what?!) It was a fun way to remind myself of the things that made me happy and a way to practice gratitude, plus it was something my friends looked forward to reading.
In an effort to make 2021 a better year I decided I would revive these Top 10 lists, but in blog format! Also, because life is utter mayhem right now, I’m only committing to a monthly Top 10 list because I don’t think I have the capacity to complete this every week right now! So without further ado, here’s Anne’s Top 10 for January 2021!
- At home gel nail set from Amazon!
I don’t know about you, but I always feel more put together when I have my nails done. Regular nail polish NEVER lasts for me, between constant dish washing and baths for the kids and cleaning etc etc etc! I got a gel manicure pre-pandemic and I loooooved how long it lasted! So I decided to treat myself for Christmas and bought this set of gel nail polish colors, this set of top coat and base coat polish, and this UV/LED Nail Drying Lamp. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t take long at all to do my nails and I didn’t have to worry about smudging them when I was done! They lasted almost 2 weeks for me before they started peeling which is about 13 days longer than regular nail polish! They also have awesome starter kits so you can order everything together! Check them out here!
2. Celestial Seasonings Honey Vanilla Chamomile Tea
I am not really a “tea person” like at all. But I desperately want to be. Here’s a hilarious TikTok video that describes me to a T(ea). But even though I don’t get as excited about this tea as my morning coffee, it is pretty good and I’d like to think that I’m getting some kind of healthy benefit when I drink it! Available here or at Walmart!
3. I like BIG MUGS and I cannot lie
Ok, that was lame. But I seriously love a big mug for coffee (and tea)! My most favorite one ever that I got from TJ Maxx broke last month (thanks 2020) but I like this Valentine’s Day Rae Dunn mug for now. Where’s your favorite place to buy big mugs??
4. Designing Adult Coloring books
I am obsessed with designing these intricate coloring pages with different sayings on the for adults! I’m working on sweary coloring books, mom saying coloring books, positive affirmation coloring books and more! I love the creative process of designing both the interiors and the covers!
5. SLEEP
I’ve been going to bed pretty much after my kids for a little while now, which means I don’t always get my “me time” during the week because I’m with the kids all day and then instead of staying up to watch TV (and probably drink wine and overeat), I simply go to sleep. I have to say, not once have I regretted getting more sleep! I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much better I feel now that I’m consistently getting more (and better) sleep!
6. Cozy blankets
Who would have thought one of my favorite Christmas gifts I received would be a blanket from Barnes & Noble?! Not me! But this thing is so cozy and soft I am in absolute bliss every time I curl up with it. I need to hide it from my kids though, they keep stealing it, ha! This highly rated one from Amazon with more than 4,000 reviews looks similar!
7. Hyperbole and a Half author Allie’s new book Solutions And Other Problems
Many many years ago I stumbled across Allie’s Hyperbole and a Half blog and spent hours scrolling and laughing hysterically at her relatable and hilarious stories and drawings! She has such talent and I’m so glad she decided to publish a book (or two)! My husband got me this book for Christmas and I was cry laughing within the first couple of pages!
8. Booty leggings!
They are all the rage on IG and TikTok, but I didn’t know anyone personally who bought them until recently. My friends who own them RAVE about how comfy they are and how amazing they make their butts look!
9. Chunky Knit Headband/Ear Warmer
My go-to pandemic hairstyle has been a ridiculously messy bun piled on the top of my head (tutorial here) and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Winter hats, however, don’t work too well with the messy bun so this sherpa lined ear warmer has been a life saver. And it’s so cute too!
10. Looooong Winter Coat
I live in Chicago, and it gets COOOOLLLLLDDDDD here. I’ve always had mid-length winter coats and tall boots but that always leaves my legs cold. I finally decided I needed to invest in a long winter coat and couldn’t believe it when I found this highly rated coat from 32 Degrees for only $42!!!!
